Member or Contact?
hontreasurer.com has the facility to call people with whom the organisation does business by either of these names (set at initial startup). Membership societies will call most people it does business with Members so will choose that name. Such societies will also have "Members" who are in fact suppliers and some customers too, but the majority of transactions will be with their own members so that name has been provided as an alternative to Contacts which will be used by commercial organisations and individuals or couples.
General Member/Contact Information
General Information such as name, address, phone numbers etc,  can be entered on every Member or Contact but in fact only a name is necessary. An Organisation should have its name entered in the Surname field. A panel is provided for organisations which require special information for each Member. If you require this facility, please email hontreasurer.com Support.
Additional Fields
The are four additional text fields, four Yes/No fields and one Choice-from-List type field which are available. These are set up using Preferences/Member Edit Preferences where they are each given a name. The text fields can optionally be specified as holding numbers and, if so, the panel can be asked to provide total, average, minimum, maximum and standard deviation figures for the column. At present no check is made that numbers are entered and  non-numbers are ignored by the totalling functions.
Member/Contact Status
The Member Status provides a useful function for grouping Member/Contacts together for reporting purposes. The Statuses can be entered on the Standing Data/Statuses menu and then applied to each Member/Contact. Commercial organisations might require Statuses of Customer, Supplier etc and Membership organisations may require different classes of membership.
