General Operation of hontreasurer.com
< Previous Page Next Page >
Listed below are some general facilities, and some tricks, which should operate everywhere in hontreasurer.com.

Order of Lists All lists have sort facilities on every visible column. Click the column heading once for ascending sort, again for descending sort and a third time for the original order. If you want to sort by a second column within the first column, hold the Ctrl key down while clicking the heading. Amount fields are sorted into large negative to large positive. Name fields are generally sorted by Surname. Also, the columns can be re-sized by moving the dividing line between the column headings left or right. Tip: use the Surname field for Companies in Member/Contact Maintenance.
Drop-down Lists Also sometimes called ComboBoxes. These lists with a little arrow at the side operate in rather special way. If you type the first few letters of the entry you want quite quickly, they will find the first entry starting with all those letters. If you type slowly, they will find the first entry which has the typed letter as the first letter.
Alternative Displays
Some lists have a button labelled "View +" above the top right of the table. This displays alternative columns for the same data (e.g. Transaction accounts and years instead of references).
List Selection
A single click will select an item for Edit, Add Like, or some other action. Double-click normally invokes Edit for that line. Where appropriate, such as in Members/Contacts list, you can hold the Ctrl key down and select multiple items, or hold the Shift key down to select a block of lines.
Copy & Paste
Selected fields and some lists may normally be copied to the clipboard with Ctrl-C, deleted with Ctrl-X and pasted with Ctrl-V. These functions can also be reached by clicking the right mouse button.
Dates Dates may be entered using dd/mm/yy(yy) or (yy)yy/mm/dd order, but sometimes the system will prompt with a calendar.
Reports Reports are initially displayed on screen. To export the report to a file, choose Report/Export from the menu and choose: .PDF for fixed content to mail or email; usually Tab-separated for export to a Spreadsheet. If you put extension .csv onto a Tab-separated export, your spreadsheet software will normally recognise it.
Look & Feel
Users may set their preferred "Look & Feel" with the Preferences/Look&Feel menu option. The system will display L&Fs which are available.
Fonts Fonts preferences may be set independently for Labels, Input/Display fields and Buttons. Lucida Sans 10 is recommended.
Screen Size
Most screens are re-sizeable by the user if fields are not big enough. Fields should expand with the size of the screen.
