We have lots of money now and need to open a deposit, savings or other interest bearing account.

First, we need to create the new account in hontreasurer.com, so go to Standing Data/Accounts and press Add. Fill in the account name (use a shortish name for reference) and then check the "Interest Bearing" box which allows you to enter interest for this account. Also the "Reconcilable" box because we will want to reconcile the hontreasurer.com version of the accounts with the statements. Then choose Cash from the Accounting Category and enter a full description, maybe with the account number, in the Description field. Press OK.

Now go to Transactions/Account Transfers/Post Account Transfer.  The main thing here is to get the From and To accounts right. So, to transfer 4000.00 to the deposit account, select Current Account in the From Account and Deposit Account in the To Account and enter a positive Amount. Ensure the date is correct and press OK.

If you look at the Balances tab now, you will see total Cash of 5301.00 but, if you "drill down" you will see this comprises 36.00 in the cash tin, 1265.00 in the Current Account and 4000 on Deposit.
