Normally accounts are started at the beginning of a financial year and an explanation of how to do this in hontreasurer.com is given on the preceding page. Sometimes, however, it is convenient to start during the year and this gives rise to the question: how do we put in the figures for the year to date?

Answer: hontreasurer.com provides a screen to post in any amount to any activity on any account, either Income or Expenditure.

First, list all the amounts which you want to enter under each Activity heading. Then decide for each whether, at the point of take on, these were a) in the Current  Account (i.e. paid), b) Debtors or c) Creditors.

Now fire up hontreasurer.com and choose Transactions/AccountTransfers/Post Opening Income/Expenditure. Enter each transaction carefully remembering to set Contact, Activity, Account & Income/Expenditure. Remember when entering Expenditure the amount is positive. hontreasurer.com will reverse it for you.

No go to Balances/Show Balances Tab and check that the accounts still balance.
