You want to look up and see what the current situation is? OK, Choose Transactions/Show Transaction List from the menu. If it is already showing, click the Transactions tab.

The Transaction List shows, by default, ALL transactions entered into the system, whatever account they are on, whatever activity they are for and whoever they were for. This can be a bit confusing, in particular the total at the bottom can be confusing. So selections are provided to restrict the list to particular accounts, activities, contacts etc. Read the page here.

After the first two steps in the Tutorial (Cash/Cheque Received and Cheque Written) you should see six transactions of 5.00 and one of -24.00 giving a total of 6.00. This is both the amount of money you have AND the profit this year (these can be different as we will see later). It is NOT the amount of money in the Bank. To get this, you have to exclude the value of the money in the Cash Tin which you do by selecting Current a/c. You will find you have a 9 overdraft! If you select the Cash account and unselect the Current a/c, you will see that you have (or should have if your partner has not borrowed it for beer money) 15.00 in the tin.

The next step is to look at the Balances.
